online facilitation - recording of TLFN meeting 27 july

Friday, July 30th, 2010

This week’s TLFN meeting was all about online facilitation. Frankie gave an excellent presentation which has been recorded in Elluminate. This was possible because of Frankie’s expertise in Elluminate - it meant she was comfortable managing both the face-2-face and online medium. It is a good example of online facilitation (using voice) in itself.

The Powerpoint presentation Frankie used is also available on Slideshare - click here to check it out.The focus of the Powerpoint and a large part of the recorded Elluminate session is about essentially asynchronous text based online facilitation, that may have synchronous session during the week.

Frankie works through the model she uses, which is based on work by Gilly Salmon and adapted by Brad Beach, and then by Frankie. It is a sound and robust model that is a great starting point for anyone wanting to do this sort of delivery.

Later in the recording Frankie also discusses synchronous voice facilitation in online classroom.

The recording and Powerpoint are a great resource for people getting started or wanting to improve the online facilitation skills.

our next tasmanian flexible learning network meeting

with Frankie Forsyth

frankie forsyth

Frankie is an internationally recognised expert in online facilitation. She says ‘My passion is facilitation both text based and using voice, so I really enjoy making contact with people through the online world. I’ve been working online for more years than I care to tell and still love it!’ Frankie’s success shows the potential offered by the internet to work worldwide and live in Tasmania.

This session will explore good practice in online facilitation - where the group will benefit from Frankie’s extensive experience and also have the opportunity to share their own knowledge. This will be a full on session jam packed with essential information.

At the end of the session you’ll have a lot of ideas to enhance your own practice or to get you started facilitating online.

The session will be both face-2-face and also delivered online in elluminate.
