Getting Started

E-learning on a Shoestring Model
Many organisations interested in e-learning want a solution that is cheap and easy to implement. A common solution is as follows:

  • Moodle Learning Management System
  • Toolbox Learning Objects - downloaded for free from LORN then customised and rebadged
  • Material created using rapid e-learning development tools like ARED, Udutu and others
  • Organisation or training specific video, audio, animations and pictures
  • Incorporating the organisation’s existing text-based material
  • Utilisating Web 2.0 technologies for material creation (eg mindmaps in bubble.us, widgets in google), sharing (Del.icio.us bookmarks and Google Docs) and social networking (groups in Facebook)
  • Skype, VET Virtual, Elluminate Vroom for communication and live classroom interaction
  • Sourcing other learning material from resource repositories such as Training02
